Click your heels 3-times! We may have found a new place to call home!

Everyone told me new businesses take some time to become profitable, sometimes up to three years and I did prepared for that, but as we approached our three year mark and Books and Cookies was still chugging along (like the little engine that could), I knew it was time to make a change. We had tried some different smaller additions and updates like adding the play structure, espresso and the pop-up shop, but this called for a big change. We needed to cut the overhead drastically to ensure Books and Cookies would stay a long lasting part of this community.

I’ve learned so much in these past three years of business and I’m excited to take all the most special parts of the former Books and Cookies to rebuild in an even more special way. I don’t want to look at this time as a downsize, but as a new growth for a new and improved Books and Cookies. We will continue to do what we do best only in a bigger and better way in a smaller space. I hope you are as excited as we are!

Closing the doors on our flagship location was one of the hardest business decisions I have ever had to make, but I do know for sure it was not those walls that made Books and Cookies special and we are excited to continue this journey.

Looking for a new space has been more challenging than I thought it would be. There are lots of spaces available, but now I’m looking with a more informed eye. I don’t want you to have to deal with Venice beach traffic in the summer or no parking on Lincoln. I don’t want to have offices above us, who may or may not complain about your children’s drumming or laughter and I want to stay close by because this is our home and you are our community. We have been seeking a space that is bright and light and has a happy energy... A safe space that we can continue to read and learn and play!

AND… I excited to announce that I may have found the perfect new space to call home! I am in lease negotiations on a great new location on Main Street in Santa Monica! Fingers crossed that all goes well in these end stages! We hope to have a new location to announce by June 1st and a Re-Grand Opening by August!

Thank you for your continued support and we will keep you posted!
