Mother's Day Books and More

"To the world, you may be one person. But to at least one person, you may be the world"

Moms are amazing. They cheer us up when we're sad, and take care of us when we're sick. They always support us. They sacrifice a lot for us. They always put their happiness ahead of their own. When reseraching Mother's Day ideas, I kept happening upon this quote:

"A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie." -Tenneva Jordan

Well, I for one say Mom should eat her slice of pie more often, and we should all take care to make sure she does. So everyday, but this Sunday specially, let's CELEBRATE MOMMY! We have made a short list of our very favorite Mother's Day children's titles for your Mommy-And-Me time on Mother's Day, May 11th, 2014!

STORY TIME

The Runaway Bunny (the Lap Size Board is a beauitufl edition)

profoundly comforting story of a bunny's imaginary game of hide-and-seek and the lovingly steadfast mother who finds him every time. A little rabbit who wants to run away tells his mother how he will escape, but she is always right behind him; even if he changes into a fish, she will become a fisherman fishing with a carrot. The ultimate story of a Mother's love, and a classic from Margaret Wise Brown.

Stellaluna (Board)

Knocked from her mother’s safe embrace by an attacking owl, Stellaluna lands headfirst in a bird’s nest. This adorable baby fruit bat’s world is literally turned upside down when she is adopted by the occupants of the nest and adapts to their peculiar bird habits. After she falls headfirst into a bird's nest, a baby bat is raised like a bird until she is reunited with her mother. A beloved picture book by Janell Cannon.

Are You My Mother (Tiny Board or I-Can-Read Picture)

While his mother is off looking for food, a baby bird hatches from his egg. Embarking on a hilarious, at times very touching, hunt for his mother, the little bird encounters a variety of creatures. A classic and lovely tale by P.D. Eastman.

Have You Seen My Ducklings (Picture) By Nancy Tafuri

A duckling is missing! Mother Duck sails frantically around the pond, with the rest of her brood behind her. But clever little readers can see that duckling isn't lost at all, just adventuring, and never far away. Beautiful illustrations.

The Mommy Book (Picture)

Trademark childlike art from Todd Parr celebrates mothers, whether they drive a minivan or a motorcycle or work in a big building or at home. Just darling.

I Love My Mommy Becuase... (Board) By Laruel Porter-Gaylord

The book begins with an sweet little scene between a human parent and child, but moves on to caregiving in animal families. Who couldn't love it?

Guess How Much I Love You (Picture) By Sam McBratney

Tailor-made for the littlest of loved ones, the padded board book edition of this beloved story is ready to hop from stroller to storytime, from bedtime to anytime.
